Is the Virtual BDE course MTO-approved?
- Yes. The Virtual BDE course is a fully MTO-approved Beginner Driver Education program. You receive the exact same certification as in-class BDE graduates — the only difference is how you attend theory sessions.
What do I need to join a virtual session?
- A laptop, desktop, tablet, or smartphone with a camera and microphone. A stable internet connection is recommended. You will receive a join link before your scheduled class date.
Do I need my G1 before starting?
- No — you can complete the 20-hour virtual theory and 10-hour HomeLink modules before obtaining your G1. However, your G1 must be in hand before your very first in-car lesson.
Can I get an insurance discount after Virtual BDE?
- Yes. Upon completing all BDE requirements, ODS certifies you on the MTO system. Visit any Service Ontario location to get your Driver Licence History document and present it to your insurer. Most Ontario providers apply a 10–20% discount.
