Is the Automatic BDE course MTO-approved?

Yes. Ottawa Driving School's Automatic Shift BDE course is fully MTO-approved and includes the 20 hours of classroom theory, 10 hours of HomeLink, and 10 hours of private in-car lessons required for MTO certification.

How much does the course cost?

$549 + tax for a limited time (regular price $749 + tax). Plus a $30 workbook & certification fee. Pre-payment is required to lock in the discounted rate.

What’s the new Live Virtual classroom option?

Our Live Virtual BDE lets you complete the 20-hour classroom theory online with a live instructor — same MTO-approved content, same certification, just from anywhere in Ontario. Sessions are scheduled with set dates and times, so you get the structure of a classroom without commuting. In-car lessons are still completed in person with a certified Ottawa instructor.

What classroom schedule formats are available?

Three formats: 2 weekend Saturdays/Sundays (10 AM–3:30 PM), 4 consecutive weekdays (10 AM–3:30 PM), or our new Live Virtual format (live with instructor).

Can I get an insurance discount?

Yes. After completion you can request your Driver's Licence History (DLH) from Service Ontario and present it to your insurer. Most providers apply a 10–20% discount to BDE graduates — typically $300–$500 in savings per year.
