Is the In-Class BDE course MTO-approved?
Yes. Ottawa Driving School's In-Class BDE course is fully MTO-approved and includes 20 hours of classroom theory, 10 hours of HomeLink, and 10–12 hours of private in-car lessons depending on your transmission choice.
How much does the course cost?
For a limited time, the base price is $549 + tax for automatic shift, or $945 + tax for manual shift. Both include a $30 workbook and certification fee. Pre-payment is required to lock in the discounted rate.
What's the new Live Virtual classroom option?
Our Live Virtual BDE lets you complete the 20-hour classroom theory online with a live instructor — same MTO-approved content, same certification, from anywhere in Ontario. Sessions are scheduled with set dates and times, so you get the structure of a classroom without commuting. In-car lessons are still completed in person with a certified Ottawa instructor.
What classroom schedule options are available?
Three options: 2 weekends (Saturdays and Sundays, 10 AM–3:30 PM), 4 consecutive weekdays (10 AM–3:30 PM), or our new Live Virtual option with a live instructor online. Evening in-person classes are no longer available.
Can I get an insurance discount?
Yes. After completion you can request your Driver's Licence History (DLH) from Service Ontario and present it to your insurer. Most providers apply a 10–20% discount to BDE graduates — typically $300–$500 in savings per year.
